Who, what, why, how and can I…

WHAT IS AN ELYSIAN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY?

We believe that, as you get older, life can and should be fulfilling, engaging, and uplifting. This is the philosophy behind Elysian Residences. You own your own private home whilst enjoying a lifestyle that’s as relaxed and as sociable as you wish. With a restaurant, bar, wellness facilities, 24-hour concierge and care if needed you can live life on your own terms.

WILL I OWN MY PROPERTY?

Yes. You will acquire your property on a leasehold basis. It is your own home, meaning you continue to benefit from the investment in a property of your own. You can choose to sell the property on the open market at any point in time after you move in.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER MOVING NOW?

Because the Elysian philosophy is to give you access to the very best life has to offer all while letting you live your life on your own terms, and in your own home. We take care of running and managing our retirement communities, free from the burden of maintaining a property and garden you can live the life you choose.

ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR LIVING AT An ELYSIAN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY?

Yes, the minimum age to occupy a property is 65 years.

CAN VISITORS OR GUESTS STAY WITH ME?

Visitors or guests can stay with you, either in your own home or in our guest suites which can be booked in advance (there is a charge and a maximum three-night stay – subject to ongoing review of usage).

CAN VISITORS OR GUESTS USE THE FACILITIES?

Yes – visitors and guests are welcome to use the facilities.

CAN I BRING A PET?

Yes, we welcome well-behaved pets including dogs, cats, and other small pets. We just ask that you let us know before moving in.

CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO MY HOME?

Yes, non-structural alterations are permitted. However, we ask that proposed changes are approved by our General Manager who can’t refuse any reasonable alterations.

CAN I SUBLET MY PROPERTY?

No, renting out your property is prohibited under the terms of the lease. For the avoidance of doubt, this also prohibits short-term letting via websites such as Airbnb.

WHO MANAGES AN ELYSIaN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY?

All our retirement communities are managed by us with a highly trained, on-site team. We can ensure the quality of all the services and facilities across the buildings and grounds in the long-term as we operate them directly ourselves.

I DON’T WANT TO MOVE AGAIN. WILL I BE ABLE TO STAY IN MY HOME AS LONG AS I CHOOSE?

We at Elysian are proud to say that in the vast majority of situations, you will be able to stay living in your property with flexible care provision to suit your needs should it be required. Under exceptional circumstances, where we don’t have the necessary specialist services to ensure the safety and well-being of the homeowner and other members of the community this may not be possible.

CAN I GET HELP OR HOME CARE IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE IT?

When it comes to care, we know that your needs may change over time. This is why, should you need it, our provision is completely flexible and tailored to you. The level of support we offer is among the UK’s most extensive in domiciliary care and with experience providing support for over 40 years, we’re confident we can help you to live as fully and independently as possible.

ARE THERE ADDITIONAL COSTS TO PAY?

Building, running and maintaining the large amount of communal amenity space and facilities that Elysian offers comes with a considerable cost both upfront and over the longer-term. Elysian charges additional fees so there is no need to increase the initial purchase price of your property to account for the running and maintaining of the communal amenity spaces. Our model guarantees that facilities are well maintained and operated at a first-class level for the long term and in a way that gives you certainty about the quantity and timing of your outgoings.

In addition to the initial purchase price there are two fees to pay.

Fixed monthly service charge – this covers the ongoing staffing and management of the building and the exceptional services and facilities within the common areas.

Exit Fee – this covers the upfront cost of creating the substantial additional communal areas and facilities along with the long-term expenditure maintaining the buildings, facilities and grounds and replacement of furniture, fixtures, and fittings.

HOW DO I RE-SELL MY APARTMENT ?

When the time comes to sell your home, we can remove the burden of re-selling it and advise you each step of the way on how the process is going. We are fully aligned in working to achieve as high a sale price as possible.

There is no obligation to sell via Elysian, you are welcome to instruct an independent agent to sell on the open market.

What is an ARCO Integrated Retirement Community?

Integrated Retirement Communities offer older people the opportunity to live independently in their own home as part of a wider community. Lifestyle, wellbeing and care services are available to support people’s independence and aspirations.

The Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) is the main body representing the Integrated Retirement Community sector in the UK. Elysian Residences are proud to be an ARCO approved operator. Find out more: https://www.arcouk.org/
